Bishop Claude Alexander
Board Vice Chair
Pastor, The Park Church
Bishop Claude Alexander, Jr. brings to the Faith & Philanthropy Collective’s board a rare combination: deep civic credibility, cross-sector convening power, and a demonstrated capacity to operate at the intersection of faith and community transformation in one of the nation’s most closely watched metro regions.
Bishop Alexander has served as Senior Pastor of The Park Church, which has grown from a single-site congregation to a multi-site organization that operates a for-profit entity, The Park Expo and Conference Center, as well as a nonprofit community development corporation that has built affordable senior housing.
From 2000–2011, he served as Co-Chair of the Community Building Initiative, a Charlotte-based, cross-sector effort where he helped convene civic, business, and faith leaders to advance racial equity and community cohesion. From 2011-2014, he presided over The Hampton University Ministers Conference, which is the largest and oldest interdenominational gathering of African-American clergy in the United States.
His board service spans InterVarsity Christian Fellowship, BioLogos, Movement.Org, Gloo, the International African-American Museum, and the Trinity Forum. He provides leadership as Chair of the Christianity Today Board of Directors. This reflects his standing as a trusted national voice in both faith and civic leadership. As Vice Chair, Bishop Alexander strengthens FPC’s governance infrastructure and its ability to convene credibly across denominational lines and philanthropic sectors.
