Innovative Urban Village
2,000 Affordable Homes | 10.5-Acre Campus | Phase 1A: Summer 2026 | Full Build-Out: 2031
A 10.5-acre, multi-phase development delivering 2,000 affordable homes is transforming one of Brooklyn's most influential faith campuses into a national model for equitable, faith-anchored community development.
Located on the campus of Christian Cultural Center and led by Rev. Dr. A.R. Bernard, the Innovative Urban Village converts underutilized faith-owned land into community infrastructure — with no less than 50% of units reserved for extremely low- to low-income households. The development includes neighborhood retail, a fresh food grocery store, childcare facilities, open greenspace, and a performing arts center. Phase 1A (386 homes) reaches occupancy in summer 2026, followed by Phase 1B (453 homes) in July 2027, with full completion by 2031. A 12-week Construction Career Prep Program ensures local residents build both the village and long-term pathways to economic mobility.
This project demonstrates how faith institutions can anchor large-scale, community-centered development that is both equitable and economically viable — and serves as a replicable model for congregations with underutilized land assets across the country.
Faith infrastructure as community development — at scale.
